Application requirements
I/O density, cycle time, motion or process requirements, field distances and maintenance needs are assessed together. This defines the requirements of the working system, not just individual products.
This electrical machinery application uses XB6S modular remote I/O to address field control, reliable communication and maintainable commissioning.
I/O density, cycle time, motion or process requirements, field distances and maintenance needs are assessed together. This defines the requirements of the working system, not just individual products.
The proposed architecture combines XB6S modular remote I/O with the machine’s existing control infrastructure and communication protocols. Final product and module selection depends on site requirements.
ProControl can adapt the solution to local project requirements in Türkiye, from site assessment, I/O planning and protocol selection to panel layout, commissioning and after-sales support.
The technical workflow and visual information from the manufacturer are presented below.
XB6S-PL20D is the XB6S series 2-channel Incremental Encoder Counter Module, which can connect to two external 5 V differential incremental encoders and report Real-Time Speed. It is compatible with XB6S series Couplers and offers three Pulse Mode options: AB Quadrature (ABZ), Pulse+Direction (Pul+Dir), and Dual Pulse (CW/CCW), supporting functions such as Z-phase reset, Compare output, and Probe latch.
The stator winding machine is key equipment in motor manufacturing, used to precisely wind copper wire onto the stator core. The winding quality directly affects the motor's performance and efficiency. During operation, a robotic arm or conveyor belt feeds the stator core into the winding station, the servo motor moves along a pre-programmed trajectory, and the winding head winds the copper wire into the core slots according to the preset number of turns and layers.
The XB6S-PL20D module from Point Technology precisely captures the A-phase and B-phase quadrature pulse signals from the encoder (built into the servo motor) to obtain direction and speed information, while the Z-phase signal provides a reference point to ensure an accurate start position for winding. Combined with the servo motor, it achieves closed-loop control, enabling real-time monitoring and adjustment of rotation speed and winding position to ensure winding quality.
XB6S-PL20D is also widely used in industrial automation, robotics, CNC machine tools, and other scenarios requiring differential-signal incremental encoders.
