This case study's customer comes from the non-standard automation industry, with business covering semiconductor wafer and packaging/testing, micro-assembly/electrical assembly/final assembly, automotive electronics/3C electronics, and many other fields. This time, we will use the "IGBT module dynamic and static testing automation production line" and "side frame dispensing assembly equipment" as examples to introduce in detail how Shidian Technology's I/O modules are applied in assembly automation and testing automation systems.
This production line consists of a loading machine, module dynamic testing equipment (including a preheating system, an automated conveying system, a cooling system, and a testing system), module static testing equipment (including independent insulation testing, static testing, 3D arch testing, and full-size testing sections), an unloading machine, and more. It offers high testing efficiency and is deeply integrated with the automated production line.
The entire system communicates via the PROFINET protocol. Since there are many signal points and their locations are dispersed, XB6 series Slice I/O modules are used to address this. Among them, sensor detection signals during equipment operation are collected by the XB6-3200A and XB6-3200B modules, actuator signals such as cylinders are controlled by the XB6-3200A and XB6-3200B modules, while the XB6-1616A can simultaneously perform signal acquisition and signal output.
The equipment automatically picks up the substrate and reads the QR code. Through recipe management, it supports processes such as laser marking, dispensing, plasma cleaning, side frame installation, and screw fastening. After dispensing is completed for different modules, glue bead visual inspection is performed, followed by assembling the substrate and side frame, then scanning the code to complete information binding, and finally moving to the downstream curing oven loading position to wait for loading.
Since this system also requires a barcode scanner, a Slice serial communication gateway module, XB6-C01SP , is used to assist. Combined with the XB6-PN0002 coupler, serial communication devices such as barcode scanners can be connected to the PROFINET bus system.

The XB6 series PROFINET protocol coupler is one of Shidian Technology's classic products. With dimensions of only 106 x 61 x 47 mm, it occupies very little space. Combined with pluggable terminal blocks, wiring is quick and configuration is simple. It supports mainstream PROFINET masters such as Siemens S7-1200, S7-1500, and Codesys, with a full load of 32 slaves, a high-speed X-bus, a maximum scan cycle of 1 ms, an IP20 protection rating, stable operation, and superior performance.
In the assembly automation and testing automation systems described above, the on-site solutions provided by Shidian Technology perfectly meet the needs of connecting dispersed equipment and collecting large volumes of signals. Combined with the XB6-C01SP gateway module, interoperability between serial devices and the PROFINET bus is achieved very conveniently.
